Career Connections Program
The North Dakota Implement Dealers Association has taken a major step forward in an effort to address an issue that dealers have identified as their number one concern—finding and keeping qualified employees. CAREER CONNECTIONS, a program linking students, schools, and dealerships, was launched in September 1998. The program was established to accomplish the following five goals:
- Establish an effective flow of communication between dealers, teachers, counselors, parents, and students regarding career opportunities in the retail farm equipment industry.
- Enhance the image and perception of the retail farm equipment industry.
- Involve dealerships in planning curriculum to assure a well-trained, competent workforce for the future.
- Provide financial support to students interested in pursuing a career in the farm equipment industry. Such support may take the form of scholarship programs, tuition repayment plans, summer employment, school-to-work programs, and/or cooperative education programs.
- Design a model for the recruitment of future dealership employees, so that dealers have a "road map" to follow.
Check out our PowerPoint Presentation and other recruiting tools on this site. The PowerPoint is a great way to present our industry to local high school students and youth groups, and the association staff will completely customize it for your dealership! Also check out our tuition assistance programs, also on this site. NDIDA can provide dealer members with matching fund scholarships and a tuition write-down plan that will help attract and retain qualified long-term employees.
